the only thing i gotta say it the font you chose. it doesn't fit with my renaissance-thinking ^^ it's a bit too comic/tagging-style in my opinion.

The font wasn't exactly what I was after, I wanted something a little eclectic and fun but with an aged look to it. I didn't realise how comicy this one looked until you mentioned it. I think it fits with the playfulness of the image, but you are right. If you know a font that would go well, send it on!

While I got you I would like to ask some advice, is it better to make the subjects pop a little more out of the image by excluding them from the texture (or reducing the opacity of the texture above them). Also would you do this more so to the people than the other elements of the image? I know this is all very subjective but I would appreciate the advice of someone with your experience.
